CINNAMON BUN, PEAR & OATS SMOOTHIE

I have a bazaar/borderline obsessive love for cinnamon, and without a second thought I find myself popping that cinnamon bottle like it’s my birthday.

Most days I marry cinnamon with oats, but I remembered I had frozen some pears a while back and couldn’t resist the temptation of a desert like smoothie to accompany this very blog post I am now typing.

Along with the pears in the freezer and the cinnamon in the draw, it dawned on me that I had recently purchased a pea based protein powder from Faithful 2 Nature, which I hadn’t even opened yet.

Naturally the above combination of flavors where mixing in my head like the three deserts you place into one bowl at Christmas, and so my Cinnamon bun smoothie was made.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup diced, frozen pear (fresh, diced and frozen overnight)
  • ¼ cup gluten free oats (normal oats is perfectly fine as well)
  • ½ tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (I put a full tsp because I have a problem. Laughs)
  • ½ cup double cream thick yogurt
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1 tbsp vanilla chai based protein powder (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine ingredients in blender and blend until smooth (using a high power blender will give you the best results, as a normal one with a lower speed will give the smoothie a slushy like consistency)
  2. Serve and enjoy!
