This past Thursday I was lucky enough to spend the morning at Saucisse Boutique Deli for my mans birthday. This cozy deli is hidden at the back of The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, where the sunlight hits your table just enough to keep warm early in the morning, and enough to not make you want to leave by lunch time.
I thought it would be fun to share this post with y’allz, as I had the BEST vegan bowl to date there and it just happens to be International Vegan day. Hows that for great timing?
Now before I get to the food, whats a blog post without a coffee photo? Saucisse have recently started serving Woza coffee, and the taste is just that. WOZA!
So let’s break down the food.
The Saucisse Benedict
Soft poached eggs, Hickory ham, caramelised onions, and our house Hollandaise sauce served on sourdough with rocket.
Now I didn’t even get a bite out of this baby, as my man kinda of ate it faster than I could take a photo of it ha ha. He did however say it was one of his best breakfast all year, so y’allz can take his word for it.
Avocado halves filled with roasted cherry tomatoes, lemon spinach, wild mushrooms, and humus served on Toasted Macadamia rye.
And here we have the bowl of the hour, and personally the best vegan bowl to date! I have to be honest with you, I was CRAVING a poached egg which I did add to the dish; however I would have been just as satisfied without it.
On a side note, who ever thought of toasted macadamia rye bread you are a genius!
From the food to the atmosphere, this is defiantly the deli of the day and I’ll be back this Sunday for my vegan fix!
