Both are happiest when the day starts with nature and ends in breakfast.
Some of you might remember us getting honey a week or so before lockdown? Let’s just say the activities and pup socializing experience was vastly different the second time around.
Not only was the social side different, we soon figured out her eating would need to be different.
She wasn’t picking up enough weight to feel safe or to be her happiest self — so we switched to Eukanuba { which she has been enjoying for several months now } and more so than ever, I feel a photo says a thousand words more than I could.
With more energy, walks have become a centre of our family joy 😌
Now that the restrictions are less we get to be out and about far more this summer, which means more opportunities for outdoor adventures with our fur babies.
Here is our summer pet-friendly outdoor adventure bucket list:
We either head to camps bay beach before 9 am or after 6 pm, Clifton 1st or take a drive to the Deep South over the weekend for a walk on Dangers Beach or Fish Hoek beach.
2. Dog-Friendly Hikes
Like beaches, check which walks are dog-friendly + which ones are strict on leads. We love Constantia Nek, Newlands currently, especially around sunrise while quiet and still.
3.The Farmers Market
More so when they were puppies and less of a handful together, but we still love a Saturday morning at the Oranjezicht City Farmers Market.
Perfect for the dogs, and those in need of caffeine!
4. Dog – Friendly Staycations
We have loved staying at La Bruyere Farm Cottages + Porcupine Hills Cottage.
And while adding these activities can be exciting, I feel it is important to remind all humans to:
⁃ Walk your dogs at cooler times
⁃ Avoid overdoing your walks
⁃ Have your fur children microchipped
⁃ Schedule veterinary checkups
And continue to set them up for success of their walks, from training to nutrition.
